Emily Waight

Emily Waight is an experienced economic development professional and Program Manager with over 15 years of service across government, private sector, and development partner–supported initiatives. With a strong academic foundation in economics and history, she brings analytical rigor, policy insight, and strategic planning expertise to the coordination and implementation of national development programs. A Master of Science degree specializing in Economics, reinforces her strong technical and leadership capacity.

Throughout her career, Ms. Waight has played a central role in the conceptualization, implementation, and monitoring of internationally funded projects, including World Bank–supported programmes. Her professional experience spans economic analysis, monitoring and evaluation, public sector investment planning, and stakeholder coordination. She has contributed to major national policy frameworks such as Belize’s National Medium Term Development Strategy and the Growth and Sustainable Development Strategy, and has served on multiple advisory committees, project steering groups, and technical working teams in areas related to economic services, climate change, and sustainable development.

Ms. Waight brings to the Economic Development Council Secretariat a proven ability to manage complex programs, support evidence‑based decision‑making, and facilitate collaboration between government, private sector, and development partners. Her background in fiduciary oversight, project management, and results‑based planning, combined with her commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic growth, positions her as a key contributor to the Council’s mandate of advancing Belize’s economic development priorities.
